On Thursday, 12 November 2009, from 6am to 6pm, Malaysia’s three top radio stations, ERA, MY FM and THR Raaga embarked on a first ever 12 hour non-stop on-air fund raising campaign, together with the New Straits Times Press (NSTP) Charity Fund.

Part of a long term partnership with NSTP Charity Fund, the campaign’s objective is to create awareness and raise funds to aid four children in need of urgent surgeries and post treatments. As on Friday 13 November, the stations have managed to collect RM 171,65.18 for the ‘Nadi 1Malaysia’ cause, in which figures are expected to increase!

ERA, MY FM and THR Raaga have surpassed the initial target of RM135,000, by appealing to their listeners to donate money to the NSTP Charity Fund, through telegraphic transfer to CIMB 1411 - 238 5256 - 01- 0. Many listeners called in the stations and requested for songs or made dedications throughout the 12-hour period, in return for their donation. What made it more interesting is that even local celebrities joined in the fund raising, with generous donations received from artists like Anita Sarawak, Ajai, Dr Fazley and Andy Flop Poppy. For all the kindness, ERA, MY FM and THR Raaga, would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all Malaysians who made this charity drive successful and hope that more Malaysian hearts will open to help those in need.

Due to the overwhelming response received during the first intensive 12-hour campaign, the three stations plan to hold another 'Nadi 1Malaysia' 12-hour campaign in December to increase public awareness and further promote this cause. We hope that companies from small to large will pledge their donations this time round, and so that more families will benefit from this exercise.
